Rescued food is still great food — it just needs a little care on the way home. Here's who's responsible for what.
1. Businesses own food safety
Every business on Meal Savers is independently owned and is solely responsible for the preparation, storage, handling, labeling, and safety of the food it sells. Meal Savers does not prepare, inspect, store, or handle any food.
2. Allergens
Surprise bags may contain allergens including nuts, dairy, gluten, eggs, soy, or shellfish. Listed allergen info is provided by the business and may be incomplete. If you have a serious allergy, please confirm directly with the business before eating.
3. Surplus, not seconds
Bags contain surplus food that is safe to eat at the time of pickup, but often close to its best-by date. Some items are best enjoyed the same day.
4. Handling your rescue
- Refrigerate or freeze chilled items promptly after pickup.
- Bring an insulated bag on hot days.
- Reheat cooked items thoroughly before eating.
- When in doubt about an item, don't eat it — and let us know.
5. Reporting a problem
If something arrives spoiled or unsafe, contact us within 24 hours with your order number. We take every report seriously and follow up with the business.
6. Assumption of risk
By reserving a bag you acknowledge that Meal Savers is a marketplace and that any claim relating to food quality or safety lies with the business that prepared it, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
